USA Basketball and Nike Announce Five-Part Documentary Series


COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., June 26, 2008 – The USA Basketball Men’s Senior National Team will be profiled in a five-part documentary series, “Road To Redemption presented by NIKE”, it was announced today. The series, produced by NBA Entertainment, will debut with a special one-hour episode that will air Wednesday, July 2 at 7:00 PM ET on ESPN2.

As part of the series, NBA Entertainment will document the entire story of the USA Basketball Men’s Senior National Team and its preparations for competition this summer in Beijing, China. NBA Entertainment’s cameras will have access to team practices, off-the-court activities and exhibition games that show how a group of elite NBA players work to come together to become one cohesive basketball team. Viewers will also learn about the new era of USA Basketball through vast archival interviews and exclusive access to USA Basketball Men’s Senior National Team managing director Jerry Colangelo, head coach Mike Krzyzewski and members of the USA team.

The debut episode will look back at the recent history of the USA Basketball Men’s Senior National Team, including the 1992 Dream Team, the repeat gold medals in the 1996 and 2000, and the bronze medal winning team in the 2004. It will also follow Colangelo in his newly-created role of managing director of the USA Men’s Senior National Team. Many of the team’s key players and storylines will be highlighted – including Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Jason Kidd and Carmelo Anthony, among others – and the program will delve into how the team will come together on and off the court.

Four half-hour episodes will follow and continue telling the story of the team as it continues on to Beijing. The series will provide in-depth, behind-the-scenes looks at key moments in the team’s journey including the June 23rd announcement of the 12-man roster, training camp and exhibition games.

All episodes of “Road To Redemption presented by NIKE” will air on ESPN2 with rebroadcasts on ESPN Classic. Following the debut broadcasts, additional content from the series will be available on ESPN.com, NBA.com, NBA YouTube channel and Nikebasketball.com.
